Jflemay furniture is among the best discoveries of SaloneSatellite 2019, the Milan Salone del Mobile exhibition for designers aged under 35, according to several articles published this year in the press.

As the exhibition opened on 9 April, Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy’s largest financial newspaper, printed a page by Marta Casadei on the “hub of the youth” featuring Jflemay’s maple coffee table without fasteners.

Having visited the 106 kiosks of SaloneSatellite for the magazine Elle Decor Italia, Caterina Lunghi selected Jflemay among “the top 7 designers under 35”. “In front of his stand”, she wrote on 12 April, “Jean-François offered demonstrations of the simplicity and practicality of [his furniture]”.

Philippe Teisceira-Lessard, writing on 25 april for the Canadian newspaper La Presse, described his visit of Jflemay’s kiosk with a quotation from Jean-François: “Furniture should enable people to live in a way corresponding to today’s urbanisation”. He noted that Jean-François was one of the few Quebecers exhibiting in this year’s Salone.

In October, highlighting an exhibition of Jflemay’s furniture and others at the Milanese department store La Rinascente, Teresa Herrero wrote in her Spanish weblog: “The motto of the young designer Jean-François C. Lemay, a French-Canadian architect working in London, could be: achieving a lot with very little.” Jflemay’s furniture without fasteners, she remarked, showed that practical objects can also be beautiful.

Lastly, the prestigious Italian magazine Design Diffusion News (DDN) published in its October 2019 edition, under the pen of Annamaria Maffina, a selection of highlights from SaloneSatellite, including Jflemay’s furniture without fasteners.
